Lyrics

She is All of Us - A song in honour of Cindy Sheehan

Let Them Stay - A song to support the US War Resisters seeking refuge in Canada

True Stories - This is a song about many different strange, but true instances...sad but true. For example - I met a young man looking for volunteer work because he wants to be a politician in Canada, but said he had to stay away from any organization affiliated with human rights as it could later damage his career. The IDF leveled a zoo in Rafa in the Gaza Strip- When questioned by the media - they first responded that it didn't happen. Next it was an accident and finally... self-defence. [as if the ostriches and giraffes were somehow a deadly threat!]. Around the same time, I read a news story about the sentencing of two US soldiers who served in Iraq - both were sentenced to one year in prison - one for torturing prisoners in Abu Ghraib prison and the other because he refused to carry out orders to torture prisoners in Abu Ghraib prison. Finally, FOX and CNN have free reign to pump out their propaganda and when some truth finally comes out about S11 - there are attempts to censor it. (But Fahrenheit 9-11 was still available on EVERY street corner in Shanghai!!)

New Songs not yet recorded

A Woman's Place (is in the Struggle) - I wrote this song for the "March for Women's Lives" in Washington on April 25, 2004, where over 1, 150,000 people marched for Women's Reproductive Rights and health. I couldn't be there in person as I was living in China at the time, but I was there in spirit and in song.

Let Freedom Reign - winning 4 more years, it must be divine intervention! - (well, some kind of 'intervention')

Spinning - A tune about the mess the US has gotten themselves into in Iraq and the necessity for them to get ut now!

Cold Wind - I wrote this song while I was living in China and read in the news that the US had deployed 7 aircraft battle carriers to China. The response of the Chinese government was talk about sinking more money into "defense" [AKA weapons] to be able to defend against such aggression - sounds pretty "cold" to me.

The Whole World is Watching - A message to Bush and similar imperialist warmongers that people are seeing through their lies and won't keep letting them get away with murder - literally. People are watching and the international movement to challenge them is growing.

Let's Privatize! - So I am officially the world's first privatized protest singer and this song is brought to you by every Tory there every was and ever will be (and Liberal too!) Hey, we all gotta make a livin' somehow!

"times like these..."

The Right Question - Believe it or not, the movie "The Matrix" inspired this one (but only the original- NOT the sequels!!!) It's about alienation, which was captured so well in the Matrix.

Maybe - I wrote this song as a reaction to people telling me to "stop complaining" when I challenge the current state of the world and to invite them to 'open their eyes.'

This Time - I wrote this song after Bush's arrogant (and false) declaration of victory in Iraq last May, after which I felt a bit demoralized - until I got back on the streets!

Not in our Name - Kind of self explanatory, this song was inspired by the massive anti-war protests and world-wide opposition to the war on Iraq, with the major theme of "Not in our Name". It exposes the real 'Axis of evil' - Tony Blair and George Bush.

Fall Down on my Knees - This song is dedicated to a good friend who one day declared that he gives up - he has lost faith that the world can be changed.

Not as they Seem I wrote this song because I was so SHOCKED when I heard George Bush and Tony Blair were each nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for their invasion of Iraq. It was also a reaction to an issue of Time magazine that shamefully had a picture of a Palestinian man in mourning at a funeral on the cover of the magazine, with the headline “The New Face of Terror.” The man was holding a gun, which is custom at funerals, and Time magazine completely manipulated the picture to fuel public opinion against the Palestinian Intifada.

Only Starlight - Dedicated to the brave women, men and children in Palestine who are fighting to end the Israeli occupation, a brutal example of the tragedy of imperialism in the Middle East. This song is about what it might be like to wake up in a world of peace.

Blind - I am also a social worker and this song was inspired by the stories of many immigrants who come to Canada with the hope of a better life and end up in a worse position than that which they left.

Truth be Told - This song is about a homeless woman who hangs out on the park bench close to my house in Parkdale and about how people have become so desensitized to homelessness in Toronto because it is so prevalent.

Trigger Happy - About the irony of the claims of the US to be fighting to protect themselves and the world from weapons of mass destruction, when they are the only country to have dropped the "Bomb."

Warchild - About the tragedy of children around the world who are forced into war because of other people's greed.

Power of the People - Taken from the popular chant in the anti-capitalist movement, this song was inspired by the struggles in Argentina and Bolivia against corporate globalization, and in Africa and Canada against the ravaging policies of the G8.

Revolution Song - This song is about people's conviction to keep fighting for the better world we all know is possible.

Making History - A song celebrating the anti-FTAA protests in Quebec City, 2001 and the movement for global justice.

Nothing at All - I wrote this song after a long day of work at a really bad job. More generally it is about the growing gap between rich & poor and how it impacts our everyday lives.

Access Denied - A song about Kimberly Rogers who died while sentenced to house arrest for "welfare fraud" because she couldn't afford to go to university.

Arming the Heavens - The lyrics for this song were taken directly from the Vision 20/20 document, which outlined the real intentions behind the National Missile Defence program (AKA Son of Star Wars). The document looks and reads like a B sci-fi movie, but it's real. Here's a little taste..."US Space Command - dominating the space dimension of military operations to protect US interests and investment. Integrating space forces and warfighting capabilities across the full spectrum of conflict." - all presented in "Star Wars" (the movie) style.

This is What Democracy Looks Like - A song about the inspiring solidarity in the struggles againts the IMF, World Bank, WTO & FTAA

Invisible Face - Inspired by Naomi Klein's book 'NO LOGO ', this song is about what life might be like for a woman working in a sweatshop.

Blood on your Hands - about the 10 years of UN sanctions imposed on Iraq and Madeleine Albright's claim that they were worth the 4,000 children who died every month.

Capitalism Kills - This song is about a few differentissues that are all a result of the system we live under. Specifically, police brutality and the Toronto police murder of Otto Vas, homelessness, the Occupation of Palestine and the Intifada and the WTO's blocking of the sale of generic AIDS medication to Africa

When Will the Madness End - An anti-war song about "Operation Enduring Freedom", the attck of Afghanistan, Palestine adn the continuing impoverishment of Africa. It is on the CD compilation, ONE BIG NO by Artists Against War.

Time to Sing a New Song - a peace chant

Fragile - instrumental
